JNI mal andersherum – Java Applikationen direkt in C++ Applikation einbinden.

Scientific processing of satellite image data on Google Cloud Platform
In a 5 person-days PoC project with CloudEO AG, we have built an application on Google App Engine and Google Cloud Storage for highly parallel processing of satellite image data. Google’s cloud infrastructure proved to be scalable so that the processing time could be reduced by factor 12 compared to state of the art PC hardware. In parallel costs were as low as 3€ (4$) for processing one satellite scene with the size of about 5GB.

Raspberry Pi as Google Cloud Print Connector
After many offices are already working with an infrastructure of printers or are in need of special printers, there are possibilities to connect them with a computer that is used as a gateway between printer and Google Cloud Print. A low priced, energy-saving and small solution is given by installing a Raspberry Pi. It is a one-board-computer equipped with an ARM CPU at 700MHz and 512MB RAM, not bigger than a usual credit card. Therefore the device fits perfectly behind a printer and does not cause as much costs and maintenance effort as a regular PC.
Writing event log entries to the Windows event log as any source (using the Power Shell)
First off, sorry for writing so much about management packs. However this might help you somewhere else as well. Today I want to show you how it’s possible to write events to the windows event log as any event source. I needed this to test simple event log monitors within the SCOM Authoring console.

SCOM MPs: Process Count Monitor
In my latest project I ran into a situation where I wanted to monitor the amount of processes of a specific executable. If you have worked with the SCOM Operations Manager Console before, you might know that a template exists for this particular scenario. However, this template will only discover the object if the process is already running. This wasn’t acceptable for this project so I decided to create my own monitor for the number of processes of an executable. The discovery was actually done using a registry entry (which I find very handy; but be aware of 64Bit operating systems, as I described in one of my other blog articles).
